5 Features Your Website Needs

Search Functionality
Information on your site, including content, navigation, product categorization and site-search, must be clearly layed out and easy to understand and be effective at getting visitors to areas of the site they need. To help with this, all website should contain a Search field to allow the visitor to enter a keyword or keyphrase for the content  they are seeking. Search results much be accurate and concise.

Printer Friendly Pages
How many times have you come to a webpage that contains valuable information, which you would like to print out? The page also contains color graphics, which use up a lot of valuable ink. It is also an advantage to provide printer friendly webpages as a means of a reminder for page that was recently viewed. Product and comparison pages should contain printer-friendly links that allow shoppers to print the information for later reference. Once printed, this also provides them with a reminder of where to come back to make their purchase.

Browser Compatibility
Just because your website works fine in your browser of choice, do not assume that it will work equally well in all browsers. In fact, it is not even safe to assume that it will work equally well in different versions of the same browser. It is vital to be sure that your website works on all the popular browsers. As well as IE and Firefox, don't forget Netscape and Opera on Windows and Safari on the Mac. Apple also released Safari for Windows. Different browsers will display your website slightly different ways. Know your audience and what browsers they are using. Then make sure that your site looks clean, clear and professional across multiple browsers.

Clear Contact Information
Having a dedicated Contact page is essential. It might seem reasonable to include contact informaton on your About page, but think of it like this: If I want to know how to contact you, would I ask this question: 'Can you tell me about yourself?' or 'How can I contact you?'. The first question does not make sense.

Consistent Navigation
Navigation should be clear and consistent. The important links of your website should be on every page, in the same location, and in the same sequence. Don't confuse your visitors by putting your navigation links in different places on different pages.

Your website can be at the forefront of everything you do for customers: selling, marketing, getting feedback, displaying products, conducting e-commerce, and more. These are just a few features that will help both you and your customers.
